Best Kodi Addons for Movies 2026

After testing 15+ Kodi movie addons on my Firestick 4K Max, here are the ones that actually work in 2026 -- including premium and free options.

After testing 15+ Kodi movie addons on my Firestick 4K Max, here are the ones that actually work in 2026 -- including premium and free options.
Tested on Firestick 4K Max 🔄 Updated February 2026 Verified Working

I spent the last two weeks installing and testing every working Kodi movie addon on my Firestick 4K Max. I’m talking 15+ addons, hundreds of movie streams tested, and more buffering wheels than I care to count.

Here’s what I learned: most “top addon” lists are outdated. Asgard is dead. Original Fen is discontinued. And free web links are getting harder to find every month.

But there are still excellent addons working in 2026 — you just need to know which ones are worth your time, and whether you need a debrid service to make them work.

Quick Answer

For most users, Umbrella with a Real-Debrid subscription ($4.87/month) is the best Kodi movie addon in 2026. It finds 4K sources fast, has an active developer, and works flawlessly with Kodi 21 Omega. For free streaming (no debrid), Ghost or The Crew are your best options.

What I Tested For

Before diving into specific addons, here’s what I prioritized during testing:

  • Link quality and availability — How many working streams did each addon find?
  • Loading speed — How fast did the addon scrape and load streams?
  • Kodi 21 Omega compatibility — Does it work with the latest Kodi version?
  • Debrid integration — How well does it work with Real-Debrid and other services?
  • UI/UX — Is the addon easy to navigate and use?
  • Maintenance status — Is the developer actively updating it?

I tested all addons on a Firestick 4K Max running Fire OS 7.6.8.6 with Kodi 21.3 Omega installed.

Understanding Debrid Services (Critical for 2026)

Real-Debrid iconReal-DebridPaid

Here’s something most addon guides don’t tell you upfront: free web links are dying.

I tested every major free addon, and the reality is brutal. Scrubs V2 found 3-4 working links per popular movie. Ghost found maybe 6-8. Half of them buffered constantly.

Compare that to Umbrella with Real-Debrid, which found 40+ cached 4K links for the same movie — all instant-play with zero buffering.

Real-Debrid Pricing (February 2026)

PlanPrice (EUR)Price (USD approx.)Per Day
15 Days€3~$3.65~$0.24
30 Days€4~$4.87~$0.16
90 Days€9~$10.95~$0.12
180 Days€16~$19.47~$0.11

My take: The 30-day plan at $4.87/month is all you need. It’s less than a single movie rental and unlocks premium streaming across multiple addons. The 180-day plan at $0.11/day is the best value if you’re committed long-term.

Try Real-Debrid — Plans Start at $3.65

Best Premium Kodi Movie Addons (Debrid Required)

These addons require a debrid service like Real-Debrid, but they’re worth every penny.

1. Umbrella — Best Overall

Kodi iconKodiFree
Best for Most Users

Umbrella

9.5 /10
Best For: Premium 4K movie streaming Price: Free addon (Real-Debrid required)
Why We Picked It:
  • 40+ 4K cached links for popular movies
  • Fast scraping with CocoScrapers module
  • Active developer with security updates
  • Clean interface with Trakt sync
Get Real-Debrid →

Repository: https://umbrellaplug.github.io/

Umbrella is the consensus #1 premium Kodi addon right now. I tested it with Real-Debrid on my Firestick 4K Max and it’s frankly absurd how well it works.

My testing notes: Searched for “The Substance” (2024) and found 47 cached Real-Debrid links in under 10 seconds. Selected a 4K HDR copy and it started playing instantly — no buffering, no waiting, just instant 4K playback.

The addon uses CocoScrapers to find links, so you’ll need to install that module separately (it’s in the same repository). Without scrapers enabled, Umbrella only searches your personal debrid cloud.

Pros

  • Finds the most 4K sources of any addon tested
  • Fast scraping (10-15 seconds average)
  • Works flawlessly with Kodi 21 Omega
  • Active security patches and updates
  • Clean, ad-free interface
  • Excellent Trakt integration

Cons

  • Requires CocoScrapers setup for full functionality
  • No free links — debrid service mandatory
  • Slightly more technical setup than others

How to install:

  1. In Kodi, go to Settings → File Manager → Add Source
  2. Enter https://umbrellaplug.github.io/ and name it “Umbrella”
  3. Go to Add-ons → Install from zip → Umbrella → repository.umbrella.zip
  4. Install from repository → Umbrella Repo → Video Add-ons → Umbrella
  5. Install CocoScrapers from the same repository
  6. Configure Real-Debrid in Umbrella settings

2. POV — Best for Anime & Movies

Runner-Up

POV

9.2 /10
Best For: Movies, series, and anime Price: Free addon (Real-Debrid required)
Why We Picked It:
  • Excellent anime selection
  • Simplified UI based on FEN layout
  • Fast search and scraping
Get Real-Debrid →

Repository: https://kodifitzwell.github.io/repo/

POV is a FEN fork by developer Kodifitzwell that’s gained serious traction on Reddit. I tested it for both movies and anime.

My testing notes: Searched for “Dune: Part Two” and found 38 Real-Debrid links. The interface is cleaner than Umbrella’s — feels more modern. Anime search is particularly good; found dubbed and subbed versions of “Attack on Titan” with 1080p sources ready to go.

Pros

  • Fast, modern interface
  • Outstanding anime support
  • Frequent updates
  • Works with Real-Debrid, EasyNews, Orion, Filepursuit
  • Highly rated by Reddit users

Cons

  • Smaller link selection than Umbrella
  • Debrid required for best results

3. The Gears — Best for Newcomers

Repository: https://unhingedthemes.github.io/

The Gears is a newer addon that’s rapidly gaining popularity. I found it easier to set up than Umbrella.

My testing notes: Installed in under 5 minutes. The setup wizard walks you through Real-Debrid authorization step-by-step. Searched for “Oppenheimer” and found 29 cached links. Playback started in 4K within seconds.

Pros

  • Easiest setup of any premium addon
  • Setup wizard for debrid services
  • Works with Real-Debrid, AllDebrid, Premiumize
  • Regular updates

Cons

  • Fewer sources than Umbrella or POV
  • Newer addon with smaller user base

4. Fen Light AM — For Advanced Users

Repository: https://fenlightanonymouse.github.io/packages

This is the spiritual successor to the original Fen addon, which was discontinued. Developer AnonymousMouse forked the project and continues development.

My testing notes: More technical setup than others. You MUST install CocoScrapers separately and configure it in settings, or you won’t get any links. Once configured with Real-Debrid, it found 32 sources for “The Wild Robot” (2024).

Pros

  • Continuation of beloved Fen addon
  • Extensive customization options
  • Great for power users who want control
  • Active development

Cons

  • More complex setup
  • Requires external scrapers to function
  • Not beginner-friendly

5. TAZ — Clean FEN Lite Clone

Repository: http://octopus246.esy.es/octopus/

TAZ is a FEN Lite clone that’s been updated for Kodi 21 Omega. It’s debrid-only — works with Real-Debrid, Premiumize, or AllDebrid.

My testing notes: Found 24 sources for “Challengers” (2024) with Real-Debrid. Clean, simple interface without the complexity of Fen Light AM. Good middle ground between Umbrella and simpler addons.

Pros

  • Clean, simple interface
  • Updated for Kodi 21 Omega
  • Works with multiple debrid services

Cons

  • Debrid required — no free option
  • Fewer features than Umbrella or Fen Light AM

6. Luc — Brand New Contender

Repository: https://apoyotech.github.io/luc_repo

Luc is a brand new addon released in late 2025. I was curious how it stacked up.

My testing notes: Very clean interface. Setup was smooth with TorBox (a newer debrid service). Found 24 links for recent movies, including several 4K HDR options. Still being actively developed with new features added monthly.

Pros

  • Newest addon on the list
  • Works with TorBox, Premiumize, Real-Debrid, AllDebrid
  • Modern UI design
  • Active developer

Cons

  • Smaller source selection than Umbrella
  • Still maturing as an addon

7. Ezra — FEN Fork with Speed

Status: Working (2026)

Ezra is another FEN fork with advanced features and extremely fast scraping speeds. Like other premium addons, it requires CocoScrapers for link scraping plus a debrid service.

My testing notes: Scraping is noticeably faster than most addons — found 35 sources in about 8 seconds. The anime section is excellent. Interface is clean and responsive on Firestick.

Pros

  • Extremely fast scraping speeds
  • Great anime support
  • Clean interface

Cons

  • Requires CocoScrapers + debrid
  • More technical setup

Best Free Kodi Movie Addons (No Debrid Required)

These addons work without a debrid service, but expect fewer links and occasional buffering.

1. Ghost — Best Free All-in-One

Best Free Option

Ghost

8.5 /10
Best For: Free streaming without debrid Price: Free
Why We Picked It:
  • 1-Click Free section for easy streaming
  • Works with or without Real-Debrid
  • Movies, TV, live sports, replays
Learn How to Install →

Repository: https://team-crew.github.io

Ghost has the best free link selection I tested. The “1-Click Free” section is brilliant — it curates working free streams so you don’t have to scrape.

My testing notes: Searched for “John Wick: Chapter 4” in the 1-Click Free section. Found 6 working links in 720p. Selected one and it started playing in about 8 seconds with minimal buffering on my 100 Mbps connection.

Pros

  • 1-Click Free section is excellent
  • Works completely free without debrid
  • Optional Real-Debrid integration
  • Live TV and sports content included
  • Beginner-friendly interface

Cons

  • Free links are lower quality (usually 720p)
  • Fewer sources than premium addons
  • Occasional buffering on free links

2. The Crew — Best for Beginners

Repository: https://team-crew.github.io (same as Ghost)

The Crew is from the same repository as Ghost, but it’s more of an all-in-one addon with broader content categories.

My testing notes: Tested the Movies section without debrid. Found 8 free links for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”. Most were 720p. Playback started quickly but I experienced one buffer during the movie.

Pros

  • Most beginner-friendly addon
  • Works free or with Real-Debrid
  • Huge variety: movies, TV, live TV, sports, IPTV, kids content
  • Regular updates
  • Clean, organized interface

Cons

  • Free links are hit-or-miss
  • Not as fast as premium addons
  • Best experience requires debrid

Repository: https://jewbmx.github.io/

Scrubs V2 is unique because it ONLY searches free web links — it doesn’t support debrid services at all.

My testing notes: Searched for “Barbie” (2023) and found 4 working free links. All were 720p or lower. Playback started after about 15 seconds of scraping. Quality was acceptable but not great.

Pros

  • Completely free — no debrid required
  • Works with Kodi 21 Omega
  • Simple, focused addon

Cons

  • Very limited link selection (3-5 links typical)
  • Only finds free links (no debrid support)
  • May be nearing end of development
  • Lower quality streams (720p max usually)

4. Diggz Free99 — Scrubs Fork

Repository: https://nebulous42069.github.io/diggz/

Diggz Free99 is a fork of Scrubs V2 with modified scrapers designed to find free links faster.

My testing notes: Compared directly to Scrubs V2 with the same movie (“Top Gun: Maverick”). Diggz Free99 found 7 links vs. Scrubs’ 4, and scraped about 30% faster. Still 720p quality.

Pros

  • Faster scraping than Scrubs V2
  • More free links found
  • No debrid required
  • Beginner-friendly

Cons

  • Still limited link selection
  • 720p quality typical
  • Free links buffer occasionally

5. Moria — Reliable Free Addon

Repository: https://team-crew.github.io (same as Ghost/The Crew)

Moria focuses on high-quality free sources without debrid integration.

My testing notes: After installation, the addon took about 5 minutes to load and update (this is normal). Once ready, I searched for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and found 9 free links, several in 1080p. Played smoothly with no buffering.

Pros

  • Higher quality free links than most (1080p available)
  • No lag or buffering in HD
  • No debrid required
  • From trusted Crew repository

Cons

  • Initial load takes ~5 minutes after install
  • Fewer total sources than premium addons
  • Updates can be slow

Official/Legal Kodi Addons for Movies

Kodi’s official repository has some legal streaming options, but they’re extremely limited for movies.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV iconPluto TVFree

Free and legal with 250+ live channels and 2,000+ on-demand channels. The movie selection is older titles and B-movies, not recent releases.

Install: Add-ons → Download → Video Add-ons → Pluto TV

Crackle

Crackle iconCrackleFree

Free Sony-owned streaming service with classic movies. Decent collection of older films and hidden gems.

Install: Add-ons → Download → Video Add-ons → Crackle

Tubi

Tubi iconTubiFree

Tubi isn’t available as an official Kodi addon, but there’s a third-party version in the Diamond Wizard Repository. It has 50,000+ titles but mostly older content.

Bottom line: If you want current movies, you need third-party addons. The official ones are fine for classic films and free content, but they won’t replace Netflix or Max.

Comparison Table: Premium vs Free Addons

Kodi Movie Addons Compared

🏆 Umbrella Premium 40+ 4K HDR Fast 9.5/10
POV Premium 30+ 4K Fast 9.2/10

The Crew Free 8-10 720p Medium 8.3/10
Scrubs V2 Free 3-5 720p Slow 7.5/10

Important: CocoScrapers Module

Most premium addons (Umbrella, Fen Light AM, Ezra) require CocoScrapers to actually find streaming links.

CocoScrapers is an external provider/scraper package that searches for links. It doesn’t work as a standalone addon — you install it alongside your main addon and select it in the addon’s settings.

How to use CocoScrapers:

  1. Install it from the same repository as your main addon
  2. Open your addon’s settings (Tools → Settings)
  3. Go to Providers or Scrapers section
  4. Select CocoScrapers as your provider
  5. Configure with your Real-Debrid account

Without CocoScrapers enabled, addons like Umbrella will only search your personal debrid cloud — basically useless unless you’ve already downloaded content.

Discontinued Addons to Avoid

Asgard — NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Asgard was a popular addon in 2024-2025, but it’s been discontinued as of February 2026. The Narcacist’s Wizard Repository was renamed to Z3R0 Repository and no longer includes Asgard.

Use instead: Umbrella, POV, or Ghost

Original Fen — DISCONTINUED

Developer Tikipeter halted development of the original Fen addon. Fen Light AM by AnonymousMouse is the community-maintained fork.

Use instead: Fen Light AM, Umbrella, or POV

Common Issues & Solutions

Buffering

Problem: Video stops to buffer frequently.

Solutions:

  • Increase cache size in Kodi 21 (Settings → Player → Videos → Cache). Default is 20MB; increase to 100-200MB if you have storage space.
  • Use a VPN to bypass ISP throttling (I use Surfshark).
  • Get Real-Debrid for premium cached links that don’t buffer.
  • Ensure minimum 10 Mbps internet for HD, 25 Mbps for 4K.

No Stream Available

Problem: Addon finds no working links.

Solutions:

  • Update your addon to the latest version
  • Update CocoScrapers (if using premium addon)
  • Authorize your Real-Debrid account in addon settings
  • Try a different addon
  • Check if the movie/show is too new (very new releases may not have links yet)

Addon Not Working After Update

Problem: Addon stopped working after Kodi or addon update.

Solutions:

  • Clear cache (Settings → System → Add-ons → Manage dependencies → Clear cache)
  • Uninstall and reinstall the addon
  • Update to Kodi 21.3 Omega (latest stable release)
  • Check addon’s repository for updates or announcements

Kodi vs Stremio: Which Should You Use?

I tested both Kodi and Stremio side-by-side on my Firestick 4K Max.

Stremio advantages:

  • Faster loading and scraping
  • Easier setup (3 minutes vs 15+ for Kodi)
  • More reliable day-to-day
  • Cleaner, more modern interface

Kodi advantages:

  • More addons = more content variety
  • Highly customizable (skins, builds)
  • Better for niche or obscure content
  • More control over settings

My recommendation: Use both. I use Stremio for daily movie streaming because it’s faster and more reliable. I keep Kodi installed for when Stremio doesn’t have something, or when I want to explore different addons and repositories.

Should You Use a VPN with Kodi?

Short answer: Yes, especially if you’re using third-party addons.

Surfshark iconSurfsharkPaid

Why you need a VPN:

  • Privacy protection: Third-party addons connect to various sources; a VPN masks your activity
  • ISP throttling prevention: Many ISPs throttle streaming traffic; a VPN bypasses this
  • Geo-unblocking: Access content that may be region-restricted
  • Torrent-based addons: Essential for addons like Elementum (your IP is visible to peers)

I use Surfshark because it has a native Fire TV app, costs $2.49/month, and doesn’t slow down my streams. I tested speeds with and without Surfshark and saw less than 5% speed drop.

My Final Recommendations

After two weeks of testing, here’s what I actually use:

For premium 4K streaming: Umbrella + Real-Debrid is unbeatable. Consistent 4K links, fast scraping, zero buffering.

For free streaming: Ghost with the 1-Click Free section works best. The Crew is a close second.

For anime fans: POV has the best anime integration I tested.

For beginners: The Gears if you have debrid, The Crew if you’re staying free.

For advanced users: Fen Light AM gives you the most customization and control.

Honestly, if you’re on the fence about Real-Debrid, just get it. The $4.87/month transforms Kodi from “sometimes works” to “always works perfectly.” It unlocks premium functionality across multiple addons, not just one.
