How to Factory Reset Google TV Without a Remote (Step-by-Step 2026)

Press and hold the button. Don’t tap it — hold it continuously. Within a few seconds, the LED light on the dongle will start flashing yellow. Keep holding.

After about 10–15 seconds of holding, the LED changes from flashing yellow to a steady white light. That’s your cue.
Release to Confirm the Reset

Unplug the Power Cord While Holding
While still holding the reset button, unplug the power cord from the back of the Onn. box. Keep holding the button through all of this.

Keep holding the button until a recovery menu appears on your TV screen. Release the button once you see it.

The recovery menu is controlled by the physical button — short presses navigate between options, and a long press selects an option. Navigate to Factory reset and long-press to confirm. The device will reset and reboot.

After the Reset: What Happens Next

Troubleshooting: When the Button Method Doesn’t Work
The LED on my Chromecast isn’t responding to the button hold. Make sure you’re pressing the right thing — the button on the dongle, not on the remote or the TV. It requires sustained pressure for 10+ seconds. If the LED never changes color, try pressing slightly harder; the button can feel stiff on older units.
