How to Install Elementum Kodi Addon (2026)
Step-by-step guide to installing the Elementum Kodi addon on Firestick in 2026. Covers zip install, permissions, and VPN setup for seamless P2P streaming.
Most Kodi addon installs follow the same pattern — add a repo URL, browse to the addon, hit install. Elementum doesn’t work that way. It requires a zip file, a permission toggle buried three menus deep, and a VPN tweak most guides forget to mention. I’ve installed it on a Firestick 4K Max running Kodi 21.2 Omega, and the process is straightforward once you know where the gotchas are.
This guide walks through every step, including the permissions that silently kill the install if you skip them.
To install Elementum on Kodi: download the repository.elementumorg-0.0.7.zip via Downloader (code 444801), install it in Kodi via “Install from zip file,” then install Elementum from the ElementumOrg repository. Enable Storage permissions for Kodi first — skip that step and the install will fail silently.
What I Tested For
Before getting into the steps, here’s what this guide actually covers — and what it doesn’t. I tested the full install flow on a Firestick 4K Max on a 200 Mbps cable connection, running Kodi 21.2 Omega. My goal was to confirm which steps could be skipped, which ones are mandatory, and exactly where the install tends to break.
A few things I specifically checked:
- Whether Downloader code 444801 still resolves to the correct zip
- Whether the Storage permission step is actually required (it is)
- VPN behavior during download — specifically, whether an active VPN causes the zip download to fail
- What happens if you skip the Kodi restart after the engine installs
I didn’t test Elementum with every Kodi build or every Firestick model. If you’re on a Fire TV Cube or an older Stick Lite, the steps are identical — just expect slightly slower download times.
What Is Elementum?
Elementum is a torrent-based streaming engine for Kodi. Unlike most addons that scrape direct links, Elementum streams content via P2P — meaning it can pull HD sources fast, often with better reliability than scrapers on slow or overloaded servers.
The catch: it’s an engine, not a content addon. Out of the box, Elementum doesn’t show you a movie library. You pair it with a provider addon like Elementum Burst to get actual content. Think of Elementum as the motor and Burst as the body.
It works on Kodi 20 Nexus and 21 Omega, and it runs fine on Firestick hardware — including the 4K Max.
Before You Start: Prerequisites
You’ll need these in place before the install makes sense:
- Kodi installed on your Firestick. If you haven’t done this yet, follow the complete Kodi installation guide.
- Downloader app installed from the Amazon App Store.
- Unknown Sources enabled in Developer Options.
- A VPN — Elementum streams via torrents, and your ISP can see torrent traffic. More on this below.
How to Install Elementum on Firestick (Step-by-Step)
Install Elementum Kodi Addon on Firestick
5 stepsEnable Unknown Sources
From the Firestick home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → toggle Apps from Unknown Sources to ON.
If you’ve already done this for a previous sideload, you can skip ahead.
Download the Repository Zip
Open the Downloader app and enter code 444801 (or the full URL: https://elementum.surge.sh). This downloads repository.elementumorg-0.0.7.zip.
When Downloader finishes, it’ll prompt you to install the file. Skip the install prompt — Kodi handles zip installs differently. Just let Downloader save the file and exit.
Grant Kodi Storage Permissions
This step is the one most guides skip — and it’s why installs fail.
Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Kodi → Permissions → Storage → toggle All Files Access to ON.
If you see a prompt for Microphone, enable that too. Without Storage access, Kodi can’t read the zip file you just downloaded, and the install quietly fails with no useful error message.
Install the Repository from Zip
Open Kodi. Navigate to Add-ons → tap the box icon (Install from zip file) at the top left.
Navigate to your Download folder and select repository.elementumorg-0.0.7.zip. Wait for the “ElementumOrg Repository Add-on installed” notification in the top right corner — it takes 5-10 seconds.
If you don’t see the notification after 15 seconds, check your Storage permissions from Step 3 and try again.
Install Elementum from the Repository
Still in Kodi Add-ons, go to Install from repository → ElementumOrg Repository → Video add-ons → Elementum → Install.
Kodi will fetch the addon and its dependencies. When you see “Elementum Add-on installed”, close Kodi completely and relaunch it. The background engine services need a fresh start to initialize correctly.
The VPN Issue — And Why It Matters Here
Elementum streams via torrents. That means your ISP can see exactly what you’re doing — and in most countries, they actively throttle or monitor P2P traffic. Without a VPN, you’re streaming in the open.
I disabled my VPN during the zip download (as noted in Step 2 above), then reconnected before testing streams. Surfshark’s Kill Switch feature is worth enabling here specifically — it cuts your connection if the VPN drops, which prevents accidental exposure mid-stream.

→Elementum: Pros and Cons
✓ Pros
- Free — no subscription, no paywalls
- P2P streaming pulls HD sources fast, often faster than scraper-based addons
- Compatible with Kodi 20 Nexus and 21.2 Omega on Firestick
- Pairs well with Elementum Burst for broad content access
- Stable repository at elementum.surge.sh — zip hasn't changed in recent updates
✕ Cons
- Not beginner-friendly — zip install plus permissions plus restart required
- Engine only — you need a separate provider addon (Burst) to access any content
- VPN must be disabled during download, then re-enabled — easy to forget
- Storage permission step silently kills the install if skipped
- Zip install occasionally fails on Firestick — may need retry or storage check
Our Verdict
Elementum
- Free — no account or subscription needed
- Torrent engine delivers fast, high-quality streams
- Works on Kodi 21.2 Omega on Firestick 4K Max
- Pair with Elementum Burst for full content library
Elementum earns its reputation as a powerful P2P streaming engine — but “powerful” comes with a setup tax. If you’re comfortable in Kodi’s menus and you’ve sideloaded apps before, the install takes about 10 minutes. If this is your first Kodi addon, you’ll want to spend time with the how to install Kodi on Firestick guide first.
The addon itself delivers once it’s running. P2P sources load quickly, HD quality is consistent, and pairing with Burst gives you a content library that rivals most paid services.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Zip not showing in Kodi’s file browser This almost always means Storage permissions weren’t enabled. Go back to Step 3 and confirm All Files Access is toggled ON for Kodi, then restart Kodi and try again.
Download fails in Downloader Disable your VPN completely before entering the Downloader code. Even a VPN in split-tunnel mode can interrupt the zip download. Reconnect after the file saves.
“Add-on installed” notification never appears Give it 20-30 seconds — Firestick hardware is slower than a desktop. If nothing happens, check available storage. Kodi needs free space to unpack the zip. If storage is tight, check the Firestick storage full guide before retrying.
Elementum won’t start after install Close Kodi completely and relaunch — don’t just back out to the home screen. The background engine process needs a clean start. If it still won’t initialize after a full restart, check that Microphone permissions are enabled in addition to Storage.
Alternatives to Elementum
If Elementum’s zip-based install is more trouble than it’s worth for your setup, there are easier paths to Kodi streaming.
Elementum Burst — Not exactly an alternative, but the right next step. Install this from the ElementumOrg repository after Elementum. It’s the provider layer that gives Elementum actual content to stream.
Gaia — Repository-based install (no zip required), broad scraper support, and easier to configure for beginners. Less focused on torrents, more on direct links. If you want something that works out of the box with less fuss, Gaia is the cleaner choice.
Standard repository addons — If you’re not specifically looking for P2P torrent streaming, most Kodi addons install via a simple repo URL with no zip steps. Browse the best Kodi addons for Firestick for options that match your content needs.
Pair With Real-Debrid for Even Better Streams
Running Elementum with Real-Debrid unlocks premium cached torrent links — meaning you get the speed of P2P without having to wait for peers to seed. It’s the combination most power users settle on: Elementum as the engine, Real-Debrid as the source for pre-cached, high-quality files.
If you haven’t set up Real-Debrid yet, the complete Real-Debrid setup guide for Firestick covers the full process.
