From your Firestick home screen, navigate to the top menu bar and select Settings (the gear icon on the far right). Then select My Fire TV.
Enable Developer Options
Inside My Fire TV, scroll down and select About. You’ll see your device name — something like “Fire TV Stick 4K Max.” Click on that item 7 times in a row. After the 7th tap, you’ll see a message saying “You are now a developer.” This unlocks the Developer Options menu.
Layer 1 — Why: By default, Amazon hides Developer Options entirely. The 7-tap trick is how you reveal the hidden menu without needing any special tools.
Layer 2 — The step: Tap About → tap the Fire TV Stick line item exactly 7 times until the developer confirmation message appears.
Layer 3 — Reassurance: Nothing changes about how your device works — this just makes one extra settings menu visible.
Turn On Apps from Unknown Sources
Go back to My Fire TV, then open Developer Options. You’ll see Install unknown apps (or Apps from Unknown Sources on older Fire OS versions). Select it, then find Downloader in the list and toggle it to ON.
This tells your Firestick that it’s okay for the Downloader app specifically to install APK files. You’re not opening the floodgates for everything — just enabling one trusted helper app.
Install Downloader from the App Store
Return to the Firestick home screen. Select the Search icon (magnifying glass), type Downloader, and install the official Downloader app by AFTVnews. It’s free and available directly in the Amazon App Store — no sideloading needed for this one.
Once installed, open Downloader and allow any permissions it requests. The first time you launch it, it may ask to enable accessibility services — approve that, as it’s needed for the install flow.
Download the FilmPlus APK
Inside Downloader, tap the URL bar at the top and enter the download link for the FilmPlus APK. Because APK links for sideloaded apps change over time, search for “FilmPlus APK download” on your phone to find a current working link — sites like TROYPOINT keep their links updated and are a reliable source for current builds.
Once you’ve entered the URL, hit Go. Downloader will show a download progress bar. The APK file is small — it downloads in seconds on most connections.
Install FilmPlus
When the download finishes, Downloader will automatically prompt you to install the APK. Select Install and wait for the installation to complete — takes about 10–15 seconds. When it finishes, you’ll see options to Open the app or go back to Done. Select Open to launch FilmPlus immediately.
Delete the APK File
After FilmPlus opens and you’ve confirmed it’s working, go back to Downloader and delete the APK file. Downloader will prompt you to do this automatically after installation. Tap Delete to confirm.
This frees up storage that the APK was using — the installed app is separate from the installer file, so deleting the APK doesn’t affect FilmPlus itself.
