How to Install Umbrella Kodi Addon (Latest Version)
Step-by-step guide to installing the Umbrella Kodi addon on Firestick in 2026. Covers the repo setup, CocoScrapers, and Real-Debrid configuration.
Umbrella has quietly become one of the best Kodi addons for people who are serious about their streaming setup — and by “serious” I mean paired with Real-Debrid or Premiumize, not just hoping free scrapers pull something watchable. I installed the latest version (6.7.43) on my Firestick 4K Max running Kodi 21 (Omega) and walked through the full setup from scratch.
The catch people keep running into: Umbrella hasn’t bundled CocoScrapers since August 2023. If you installed this thing a while back and just refreshed it, you’re probably staring at empty search results and wondering what went wrong. This guide covers both — Umbrella and CocoScrapers — so you’re not left halfway there.
To install Umbrella on Kodi: add https://umbrellaplug.github.io as a File Manager source, install the repo zip, then install the addon from the repo. You also need to separately install CocoScrapers from https://cocojoe2411.github.io/ — Umbrella won’t find streams without it. Kodi 21 (Omega) is the recommended version.
What I Tested For
Before we get into the steps, here’s what I actually looked at during my testing on the Firestick 4K Max:
- Clean installation from scratch on Kodi 21 (Omega)
- Whether CocoScrapers integrated cleanly after the 2023 configuration change
- Stream availability with and without a Debrid service connected
- Common failure points (wrong URLs, capitalization issues, version mismatches)
- Compatibility notes for people still on Kodi 19 or 20
The short version: Umbrella works well when set up correctly. The installation has a few gotchas — mostly around CocoScrapers and URL capitalization — that aren’t obvious from a quick YouTube tutorial.
What Is Umbrella?
Umbrella is a Kodi video addon that scrapes streaming sources from across the web and presents them in a single, clean interface. It’s the kind of addon that’s genuinely good when you feed it quality sources — specifically through a Debrid service like Real-Debrid or Premiumize.
Without a Debrid service, you’re relying entirely on free sources scraped by CocoScrapers. It’ll work, but you’ll encounter slower loads, more dead links, and lower quality options. Connect Real-Debrid and the experience is night-and-day.
Current version: 6.7.43
Repository version: 2.2.6
Kodi compatibility: 19, 20, 21 (Omega)
Official repo: github.com/umbrellaplug/umbrellaplug.github.io
Before You Start
You’ll need:
- Kodi 19, 20, or 21 installed on your Firestick (21 recommended) — see our full Kodi installation guide if you’re starting from scratch
- Unknown Sources enabled in Kodi settings (covered in Step 1)
- Optionally, a Real-Debrid account for premium streaming links
If you haven’t set up Real-Debrid yet, our Real-Debrid setup guide walks through the whole thing from account creation to linking it inside Kodi addons.
How to Install Umbrella on Firestick
Install Umbrella Kodi Addon
8 stepsEnable Unknown Sources
Open Kodi and go to Settings (gear icon) → System → Add-ons → toggle Unknown Sources to ON. Kodi will warn you about third-party addons — select Yes to confirm. This setting lets Kodi install addons from outside its official repository.
Open File Manager
From the Kodi home screen, go to Settings → File Manager. This is where you’ll add the Umbrella repository source so Kodi knows where to download from.
Add the Umbrella Repository Source
Double-click Add Source. A dialog box will appear — select None and type the following URL exactly as written (it’s case-sensitive):
https://umbrellaplug.github.io
Below the URL field, name the source Umbrella and select OK. You’ll see it appear in your File Manager list.
Install the Umbrella Repository Zip
Go back to the Kodi home screen. Select Add-ons → click the Add-on Browser icon (the open box in the top-left corner). Select Install from Zip File → Umbrella → look for and select:
repository.umbrella-2.2.6.zip
Wait for the “Repository Installed” notification in the top-right corner before moving on.
Install the Umbrella Addon
From the Add-on Browser, select Install from Repository → Umbrella Repository → Video Add-ons → Umbrella → Install. Wait for the “Add-on Enabled” notification. Umbrella is now installed — but it still needs CocoScrapers to find streams.
Add the CocoScrapers Repository Source
Go back to Settings → File Manager → Add Source. Select None and enter this URL exactly:
https://cocojoe2411.github.io/
Name it CocoScrapers and select OK.
Install the CocoScrapers Repository
From the Add-on Browser, select Install from Zip File → CocoScrapers → select:
repository.cocoscrapers-1.0.0.zip
Wait for the repository installed notification.
Install CocoScrapers Module
Select Install from Repository → CocoScrapers Repository → Program Add-ons → CocoScrapers Module → Install. Once the “Add-on Enabled” notification appears, CocoScrapers is active. Launch Umbrella from your Kodi Add-ons and you should be seeing results.
Connecting Real-Debrid to Umbrella
Umbrella without Debrid is usable. Umbrella with Real-Debrid is a different experience entirely — faster loads, higher quality links, more consistent availability.
Once Umbrella is installed:
- Open Umbrella from your Kodi Add-ons menu
- Navigate to Settings → Accounts
- Select Real-Debrid and follow the device authorization prompt
- Enter the code at real-debrid.com/device on any browser
Real-Debrid costs a few euros per month and is genuinely worth it if you’re using Kodi regularly. It turns unreliable free scraper links into cached, high-speed streams.

Umbrella Kodi Addon
- Actively maintained — version 6.7.43 as of May 2026
- Compatible with Kodi 19, 20, and 21 (Omega)
- Works with Real-Debrid, Premiumize, and free scrapers
- Clean, navigable interface on a TV remote
- CocoScrapers integration once configured
✓ Pros
- Actively developed — GitHub shows frequent updates, currently at 6.7.43
- Supports Kodi 19, 20, and 21 — you don't need to be on the latest version
- Works with Real-Debrid and Premiumize for premium cached links
- CocoScrapers integration gives access to a wide scraper network
- Interface navigates cleanly with a Firestick D-pad
✕ Cons
- CocoScrapers must be installed separately — no longer bundled since August 2023
- Scrapers are no longer auto-preselected — manual configuration required after install
- Free sources alone produce inconsistent results; Debrid service highly recommended
- URL entry on a Firestick remote is slow and typo-prone — a keyboard helps
Troubleshooting Common Issues
No streams appearing after installation
This is almost always a CocoScrapers problem. Open Umbrella → Settings and verify CocoScrapers shows up as an enabled scraper module. If it’s not listed, go back through Steps 6-8.
“Cannot connect” error when adding the repository source
Double-check your URL. The Umbrella repo URL is https://umbrellaplug.github.io — no trailing slash, capital U in Umbrella when naming it (the name doesn’t matter, but the URL does). CocoScrapers URL needs a trailing slash: https://cocojoe2411.github.io/
Kodi version issues
If you’re on Kodi 19.4 and running into problems, consider upgrading to Kodi 21 (Omega). It’s the recommended version for Umbrella as of 2026. Our Kodi on Firestick guide covers the installation.
Premiumize authorization issues
If your Premiumize account stops working inside Umbrella, go to Settings → Accounts, unauthorize it, then reauthorize. This is a known intermittent issue reported in the TroyPoint community forums.
English streams not appearing
Go into Umbrella’s Settings and verify your language preferences. Some scraper configurations default to pulling multiple languages — filtering to English-only can clean up the results list significantly.
Is Umbrella Still Worth Installing in 2026?
The short answer: yes, if you’re pairing it with Real-Debrid or Premiumize.
Umbrella has stayed actively maintained — version 6.7.43 is a significant number of iterations from where it started, and the GitHub repository shows it’s still receiving updates. The CocoScrapers separation added a setup step, but it also means both components can update independently without breaking the other.
Where Umbrella competes with addons like Seren is in interface cleanliness and configuration flexibility. If you’re the kind of person who has a Debrid service already set up, Umbrella is one of the better ways to use it inside Kodi.
If you’re brand new to Kodi and don’t have Real-Debrid yet, our Kodi addons roundup covers the full landscape of what’s working in 2026.
Wrap Up
Umbrella is a solid Kodi addon that got a little more complicated to install after the 2023 changes — specifically the CocoScrapers split. But the steps above cover everything you need to get from zero to streaming.
