How to Sideload Apps on Fire TV Stick 4K Max Before Amazon Locks Them Down
Amazon is moving to Vega OS and new Fire TV devices are losing sideloading support. Your 4K Max still works. Here's the exact step-by-step method before that window closes.

From the Fire TV Stick 4K Max home screen, navigate to Settings in the top navigation bar. Use your remote’s directional ring to scroll right until you reach it.
Go to My Fire TV → About
Inside Settings, select My Fire TV. Scroll down and select About. Your device name appears at the top of that screen — that’s what you’re targeting next.
Unlock Developer Options
With About open, move the cursor to your device name — the top item in the list — and press the Select button seven times in a row. You’ll see a countdown after the first few presses, then a confirmation message once Developer Options unlocks.
This step is required if you’ve never done it before, and also after major Fire OS updates that reset the setting. If nothing happens, make sure you’re pressing Select (center of the ring) and not navigating with the directional pad.
Enable Install Unknown Apps for Downloader
Press Back to return to My Fire TV. You’ll now see Developer Options in the menu. Select it.
Find Install unknown apps — this is the current Fire OS label. Older builds call it Apps from Unknown Sources. Select it, find Downloader in the per-app list, and toggle the permission ON for Downloader specifically.
This is a per-app permission — enabling it for Downloader doesn’t grant every other app on your device the same access.
Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore
Return to the home screen and search the Amazon Appstore for “Downloader” — made by Elias Saba, free. Install it. If it’s already installed, confirm the Step 4 permission is applied before continuing.
Download and Install Your APK
Open Downloader. Use the URL bar to enter a direct APK download link. Downloader fetches the file, then prompts you to install once the download finishes.
Select Install when prompted. After installation, choose Open to launch the app or Done to return to Downloader. Your sideloaded app will now appear in your Fire TV app list.

ADB From a PC
