How to Watch Narcos on Firestick (Every Option in 2026)
Complete guide to watching Narcos on Firestick. All 3 seasons compared across Netflix, free ad-supported options, and more. Includes setup steps, 4K quality info, and where to watch outside the US.
I just finished rewatching all three seasons of Narcos on my Firestick 4K Max — from Pablo Escobar’s early cocaine empire all the way through the takedown of the Cali Cartel. What surprised me most wasn’t the show itself (still incredible) but the number of ways you can watch it now. Netflix is the obvious home, but you can actually stream the entire series completely free with ads on Amazon Prime Video and Plex. Finding the right option took some digging, so I put together everything I tested.
You can watch all 3 seasons of Narcos completely free with ads on Amazon Prime Video’s free tier — no Prime subscription required. It’s pre-installed on every Firestick. For an ad-free experience with 4K quality, Netflix Premium ($24.99/mo) is the best option. Plex also streams it free with ads.
What I Tested For
- Streaming quality — HD, 4K, and HDR across platforms
- Audio quality — Stereo vs. 5.1 surround sound
- App stability — Performance during multi-episode sessions on Firestick 4K Max
- Subtitle and audio options — Critical for a show with heavy Spanish dialogue
- Cost per season — Total spend to finish all 30 episodes
Where to Watch Narcos
Narcos is a Netflix Original, but it’s also available for free on a couple of ad-supported platforms. Here’s every option I tested on my Firestick:
| Service | Price | Seasons | Quality | Ads? | Free Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🏆 Amazon Prime Video (Free) | Free | All 3 | HD | Yes | N/A |
| Also Free Plex (Free) | Free | All 3 | HD | Yes | N/A |
| Netflix (Standard w/ Ads) | $7.99/mo | All 3 | 1080p | Yes | None |
| Netflix (Standard) | $17.99/mo | All 3 | 1080p | No | None |
| Netflix (Premium) | $24.99/mo | All 3 | 4K Ultra HD | No | None |
Best Way to Watch Narcos on Firestick
For most people, the best option is the one that’s already on your Firestick — Amazon Prime Video’s free ad-supported tier. No subscription, no sign-up hassle, all 30 episodes.
But if you want the best experience — 4K, no ads, full Spanish audio with subtitles — Netflix Premium is the way to go. Narcos was one of Netflix’s earliest 4K titles, and it shows.
Amazon Prime Video (Free with Ads)
- All 3 seasons — 30 episodes completely free
- Pre-installed on every Firestick — zero setup
- HD quality with ad breaks
- No Prime subscription or sign-up required
Netflix
- All 3 seasons in up to 4K Ultra HD (Premium plan)
- Original Spanish audio with English subtitles — the way the creators intended
- Native Firestick app — no sideloading needed
- Ad-free on Standard and Premium plans
✓ Pros
- Multiple free options — Amazon Prime Video and Plex both stream all 30 episodes at no cost
- 4K available on Netflix Premium — Narcos was an early 4K Netflix title and it looks great
- Native Firestick apps for all platforms — no sideloading required
- Netflix has full Spanish audio — essential for the authentic Narcos experience
- Completed series — all 3 seasons, no waiting for new episodes
✕ Cons
- Free options (Amazon, Plex) are English audio only with ads
- 4K requires Netflix Premium at $24.99/mo
- Netflix doesn't offer a free trial
- No Dolby Atmos audio on any platform
My testing notes: I tested Narcos across all three platforms on my Firestick 4K Max. Amazon’s free tier worked surprisingly well — HD quality was solid and the ad breaks were around 60-90 seconds, roughly every 20 minutes. Not ideal, but hard to argue with free. Plex was a similar experience. Netflix Premium was the clear winner for picture quality though — Narcos in 4K looks sharp, especially the lush Colombian jungle scenes and Medellín cityscapes. One thing I noticed: the free Amazon version only had English audio, which feels wrong for a show that’s meant to be experienced with Spanish dialogue and subtitles. If that matters to you (and it should), Netflix is the only way to go.
How to Watch Narcos on Firestick (Step-by-Step)
Since Amazon Prime Video is pre-installed and free, here’s the fastest path to watching:
Watch Narcos Free on Amazon Prime Video
4 stepsOpen Amazon Prime Video
From your Firestick home screen, scroll to the Prime Video app. It’s pre-installed on every Firestick — no download needed.
Search for Narcos
Open the app and use the search icon to type “Narcos”. You’ll see both Narcos (2015) and Narcos: Mexico — make sure you pick the original.
Select the Free with Ads Version
On the show page, look for the “Free with ads” option. You may need to scroll past the paid rental/purchase options. Select Season 1, Episode 1 — “Descenso.”
Start Watching
Hit play. You’ll see short ad breaks throughout the episode. The show streams in HD with English audio and subtitles. For the best connection, make sure your Firestick is on a 5GHz WiFi network.
Free and Cheaper Ways to Watch
Narcos is one of the rare Netflix Originals that’s actually available for free on other platforms. Here are your options ranked by cost:
1. Amazon Prime Video — Free with Ads
The easiest option. It’s already on your Firestick, all 3 seasons are available, and you don’t need a Prime membership. You’ll get HD quality with ad breaks. The only downside is English-only audio.
2. Plex — Free with Ads
Plex has all 3 seasons of Narcos available for free streaming with ads. Download the Plex app from the Amazon App Store — it’s free. The experience is similar to Amazon’s free tier: HD quality, ad-supported, English audio.
3. Netflix Standard with Ads — $7.99/mo
If you want Spanish audio, better quality, and fewer ads than the free options, Netflix’s cheapest plan is $7.99/mo. You get 1080p HD and the full audio/subtitle library. At 30 episodes averaging 45–55 minutes each, you could finish the series in about 2–3 weeks. That’s roughly $8 for the complete show.
About Narcos
Narcos premiered on Netflix on August 28, 2015 and ran for 3 seasons through September 1, 2017. Created by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro, the show chronicles the rise and fall of Colombia’s drug cartels through the eyes of DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Peña.
The series holds an 8.7/10 on IMDb and an 89% Tomatometer / 95% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2, covering Escobar’s escape and death, is widely considered the strongest of the three.
Season-by-Season Guide
| Season | Episodes | What to Expect |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 (2015) | 10 | Pablo Escobar’s rise from the late 1970s. The birth of the Medellín Cartel and the beginning of the cocaine trade. DEA agents arrive in Colombia |
| Season 2 (2016) | 10 | The 16 months between Escobar’s escape from La Catedral prison to his death in December 1993. The most intense season |
| Season 3 (2017) | 10 | Shifts to the Cali Cartel — the four godfathers who ran the world’s richest drug trafficking organization. A different vibe but equally gripping |
Total: 3 seasons, 30 episodes. The series is complete — no waiting for new episodes.
The Narcos Universe
If you finish Narcos and want more, the franchise continues:
- Narcos: Mexico (2018–2021) — 3 seasons, 30 episodes on Netflix covering the Mexican drug cartels
- Griselda (2024) — Limited series spin-off on Netflix starring Sofía Vergara
- El Chapo spin-off — In development at Netflix with Alejandro Edda. No release date yet
Streaming Quality on Firestick
| Detail | Netflix Premium | Netflix Standard/Ads | Amazon Free | Plex Free |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Video Quality | 4K Ultra HD | 1080p HD | HD | HD |
| HDR | Likely (early 4K title) | No | No | No |
| Audio | Spanish + English, 5.1 | Spanish + English, 5.1 | English only | English only |
| Subtitles | Multiple languages | Multiple languages | English | English |
| Ads | No | Yes (Standard w/ Ads) | Yes | Yes |
My testing notes: The 4K quality on Netflix Premium was noticeably better than the HD streams on Amazon and Plex. Narcos was one of Netflix’s first 4K titles back in 2015, and the Colombian locations — the mountains, the streets of Medellín, the jungle hideouts — all benefit from the higher resolution. The biggest quality difference, though, isn’t visual — it’s audio. Netflix gives you the original Spanish dialogue with English subtitles, which is how the show was meant to be watched. Wagner Moura (Escobar) learned Portuguese-accented Spanish specifically for the role, and the mix of English narration with Spanish dialogue creates an immersive atmosphere that you completely lose with the English-only audio on the free platforms. I’d consider that alone worth the Netflix subscription.
Watch Narcos From Anywhere
Narcos is a Netflix Original, so it’s been available in most countries where Netflix operates. However, recent reports suggest availability may have changed in some regions outside the US. If you’re traveling or living outside the US, a VPN lets you connect to a US server and access the full Netflix catalog — plus the free Amazon Prime Video option.
A VPN also prevents your ISP from throttling your streaming connection, which I noticed made a real difference during 4K playback on Netflix.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Narcos free on any streaming service?
Yes — you can watch all 3 seasons of Narcos completely free with ads on Amazon Prime Video’s free tier (no Prime subscription needed) and on Plex. Both apps are available in the Amazon App Store for Firestick. The free versions have ad breaks and English-only audio.
Which service has all seasons of Narcos?
Netflix, Amazon Prime Video (free with ads), and Plex (free with ads) all have the complete 3-season, 30-episode run. Netflix gives you the best quality (up to 4K) and the original Spanish audio. The free options are HD with English audio only.
Can I watch Narcos in 4K on Firestick?
Yes — Narcos is available in 4K Ultra HD on Netflix Premium ($24.99/mo). Narcos was one of Netflix’s earliest 4K titles. You’ll need a Firestick 4K or Firestick 4K Max and internet speeds of at least 25 Mbps. The free options on Amazon and Plex max out at HD.
Is Narcos getting a new season?
No. The original Narcos series concluded with Season 3 in 2017. The story continued in Narcos: Mexico (2018–2021, also 3 seasons on Netflix). A new El Chapo spin-off series is in development at Netflix, but no release date has been confirmed as of February 2026.
Should I watch Narcos with subtitles?
Absolutely. Narcos deliberately mixes English narration with Spanish dialogue in the cartel scenes. On Netflix, watching with the original audio and English subtitles is the intended experience. The Spanish dialogue — especially Wagner Moura’s portrayal of Escobar — adds authenticity that you lose completely in the English dub.
