How to Watch World Figure Skating Championships 2026 on Firestick
The 2026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships run March 25-29 in Prague. Every way to stream it live on your Firestick — including free options for the US, Canada, and Australia.
I’ve been watching ISU figure skating events on my Firestick 4K Max for the past few seasons, and the primetime highlights packages on NBC are fine — but they cut half the field and bury the compulsory dances entirely. If you want every skater, every short program, every free skate live from Prague, you need a streaming plan before the puck drops on March 25.
The 2026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships run March 25-29 in Hradec Králové and Prague, Czechia — Men’s, Women’s, Pairs, and Ice Dance all on the schedule, with an Exhibition Gala wrapping things up on March 30. No pay-per-view pricing, no blackout headaches — just figuring out which app to open on your Firestick.
Here’s every way to watch, ranked by value.
In the US, Peacock Premium ($7.99/month) is the only way to watch every skater live — 50+ hours of coverage starting March 25. There’s a 7-day free trial so you can start for free. Canadians get it free on CBC Gem; Australians get it free on SBS On Demand.
What I Evaluated
I run a 500 Mbps fiber connection and tested each of these services on a Firestick 4K Max through previous ISU Grand Prix and European Championship events this season. The things that matter most for live figure skating:
- Stream quality during live events — does the app hold HD when traffic spikes during prime sessions?
- Latency — are you watching 30 seconds behind everyone on Twitter?
- Coverage depth — is it every skater, or just the medal contenders?
- Firestick remote navigation — can you actually find the event without cursing at the D-pad?
- Free trial availability — can you get in for the week without a long-term commitment?

Method 1: Peacock Premium (Best for US Viewers)
Peacock is where the full competition lives in the United States. While NBC and USA Network air selected sessions and primetime highlight packages, Peacock streams every single skater live — all the short programs, all the free skates, the Ice Dance rhythm dance and free dance, and the Exhibition Gala. That’s 50+ hours of coverage versus the curated 15 or so hours you’d get on linear TV.
I watched the European Championships through Peacock earlier this season on my Firestick 4K Max. The app held up well — streams loaded quickly, the remote navigation is clean enough (big tiles, simple playback controls), and I didn’t have to fight through menus to find the live feed. The Fire TV app remembers where you left off if you have to pause mid-session, which saves you from hunting through a replay.
The catch? It’s not free. You’ll need Peacock Premium at $7.99/month (or $79.99/year). The 7-day free trial covers the entire championships week if you sign up before March 25 — that’s a clean way to watch the whole thing and cancel if you don’t want to keep it.
Peacock Premium
- Every skater live — all disciplines, all programs, all rounds
- 50+ hours of coverage vs ~15 on cable TV
- Native Fire TV app — no sideloading required
- 7-day free trial covers the entire championships week
- Primetime highlights also air on NBC and USA Network
✓ Pros
- Complete live coverage — not just medal contenders, every single skater
- Native Firestick app available in the Amazon App Store
- 7-day free trial lets you watch the whole event for free
- NBCSports simulcast means you can pick up key sessions on cable too
- No PPV pricing — standard subscription covers everything
✕ Cons
- Requires Peacock Premium — the free Peacock tier doesn't include live sports
- Early morning start times (6:00 AM ET for Women's Short Program) — not ideal if you want to watch live
- Some sessions also air on USA Network if you just want the highlights without subscribing

Free and Cheaper Ways to Watch
Free Trial Route (US): Peacock’s 7-day free trial is the obvious move. Sign up on March 24, watch the entire championships, cancel before Day 8 if you don’t want to keep it. That’s fully legal and exactly what trials are for.
NBC OTA Antenna (US): NBC airs a primetime highlights package on Saturday, March 28 at 8:00 PM ET. Free with an antenna — but it’s a highlights reel, not live coverage. If you don’t want to subscribe to anything, it’s better than nothing.
USA Network (US): Selected replays and encore presentations air on USA Network throughout the week. Check your cable package — Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, and YouTube TV all carry USA Network if you’re already a subscriber.
CBC Gem (Canada): Canadian viewers have it easy — CBC’s streaming app is completely free, no subscription required. CBC Gem is available in the Amazon App Store. Selected sessions air live starting March 26; check CBC’s schedule for updated times.
SBS On Demand (Australia): Full live coverage, free, ad-supported, no login required. SBS On Demand is in the Amazon App Store. Coverage runs throughout the competition week including the Exhibition Gala on March 30.
Method 2: Unify IPTV (Best for Cord-Cutters)
If you’ve already cut the cord and you’re looking for a single service that covers NBC, USA Network, and live sports without juggling multiple subscriptions, Unify IPTV is worth knowing about. It’s an IPTV service that gives you a full live channel lineup — including the US sports networks that carry figure skating — through a single subscription.
The practical advantage here: instead of paying for a full cable-replacement package (Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV) for a single week of competition, an IPTV subscription gives you live sports channels year-round at a lower monthly cost. I’ve used Unify IPTV for live sports on my Firestick when I don’t want to commit to a full virtual MVPD. The channel selection covers the major US broadcast and cable networks.
Note that you’ll need to sideload the Unify IPTV app — it’s not in the Amazon App Store. If you haven’t done that before, our complete sideloading guide walks you through the process in about five minutes.
Unify IPTV
- Live channels including US sports networks
- Year-round sports coverage — not just one event
- Works on Firestick via sideload
- Good option if you’re already considering cutting cable

→Do You Need a VPN to Watch?
A VPN is relevant here for two scenarios:
Accessing international free streams: Canada’s CBC Gem and Australia’s SBS On Demand both offer free, full coverage. If you connect through a Canadian or Australian server, you may be able to access those streams from the US — and they’re free. VPNs are also useful for accessing regional ISU streams that aren’t available in your country.
ISP throttling: If you’re on a plan where your ISP throttles video streaming, a VPN encrypts your traffic so they can’t see what you’re watching — or throttle it. Figure skating streams are generally lower bandwidth than 4K action sports, but it’s still worth having if you notice buffering during peak competition hours.
Surfshark
- Native Fire TV app — install directly from Amazon App Store
- Unlimited simultaneous devices — one subscription covers your whole setup
- Fast server switching for finding working regional streams
- Strong speeds for live HD streaming without buffering
✓ Pros
- Native Firestick app means no sideloading — install in under a minute
- Unlimited devices on one subscription
- Good speeds for live streaming — I averaged 280 Mbps on my 500 Mbps connection
- Simple server selection makes switching between US and international servers easy
✕ Cons
- Doesn't guarantee access to every geo-restricted stream — some services actively block VPN IPs
- VPN adds a layer of latency — usually under a second, but measurable on live broadcasts

Troubleshooting: Buffering During Live Events
Live figure skating on Peacock can hit traffic spikes during major free skates — especially the Women’s and Men’s events that draw the biggest audiences. If you’re buffering:
Clear the Peacock app cache first. Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Peacock → Clear Cache. This solves about half of live event buffering issues without any other changes.
Check your connection. You need a stable 10-15 Mbps for HD live streaming. Run a speed test from your Firestick — anything under that and you’ll see quality drops during peak traffic.
If the stream drops mid-event, exit the app fully (hold the home button → Apps → close Peacock), wait 10 seconds, reopen, and navigate back to the live feed. The replay will be there immediately, and most of the time the live feed resumes within 30 seconds.
VPN users: If you’re connecting through a VPN for an international feed and the stream is stuttering, try switching to a different server in the same country. VPN server load during major live events can spike. See the Firestick buffering fix guide for more systematic troubleshooting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships on regular TV in the US?
Yes — partially. NBC airs a primetime highlights package on Saturday, March 28 at 8:00 PM ET. USA Network airs selected encore presentations throughout the week. But for full live coverage of every skater, you need Peacock Premium.
Is this the same as the Olympics?
No — completely separate event. The 2026 Winter Olympics are in Milan-Cortina (February 6-19). The World Championships are the annual ISU championship held after the Olympic season, and they’re typically where skaters who peaked after the Olympic cycle have their moment. Different competition, different athletes eligible to compete.
Can I watch for free in the US?
The cleanest free option is Peacock’s 7-day free trial — sign up March 24, watch everything, cancel before the trial ends. NBC’s OTA antenna broadcast on March 28 (highlights only) is also free. Canadians and Australians get full live coverage free through CBC Gem and SBS On Demand respectively.
What Firestick apps carry USA Network for the replays?
USA Network is included in Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and Sling TV (on plans that include the channel). All three have native Firestick apps. If you’re already subscribed to one of them, you’re covered for the encore broadcasts.
Do I need a VPN?
Not if you’re in the US and have Peacock. A VPN is useful if you want to access the Canadian or Australian free streams, if you’re traveling internationally during the event, or if you want to protect your traffic from ISP throttling during long streaming sessions. Surfshark is what I use on my Firestick for exactly this.
