Tested on Firestick 4K Max 🔄 Updated May 2026 Verified Working

I’ve been on the Disney+/Hulu bundle for about two years, and the thing that’s always driven me up the wall is the split brain. Hulu knows I watched every episode of The Bear three times. Disney+ has no idea. Two separate “Keep Watching” rows, two separate recommendation engines that never compare notes — two apps open on my Firestick 4K Max every single night. As of May 19, 2026, Disney finally started fixing that.

The new profile-linking feature lets eligible bundle subscribers sync their Hulu watch history, watch lists, and recommendations directly into Disney+. I’ve been testing it since the rollout started. Here’s what it actually does, how to set it up on Firestick, and what to do if it hasn’t appeared on your account yet.

Quick Answer

To bring your Hulu history into Disney+: update the Disney+ app on your Firestick, then look for a profile-linking prompt inside Disney+. Sign in with your MyDisney login when asked and confirm the connection. Once linked, Disney+ starts pulling in your Hulu watch history and recommendations. Heads up: this is a phased rollout — if the option isn’t showing up yet, it hasn’t reached your account. Check back in a few days.

What I Looked For During Testing

Before the step-by-step, here’s what I was actually evaluating — because “does it work” is too vague for something this new.

I tested whether the profile link actually transferred meaningful watch history (not just a few recent titles), whether the Disney+ recommendation row changed in a noticeable way, whether the setup process on a Fire TV remote was frustrating, and whether the apps stayed stable after linking. I also wanted to know what breaks — loops back to sign-in, incomplete history, wrong profiles getting connected — so you don’t have to find out the hard way.

The short version: when it works, it’s genuinely useful. When it doesn’t, it’s usually one of two fixable things.

What This Feature Actually Does

This isn’t a manual “import” button. It’s a persistent server-side account link — connect it once, and Disney+ stays synced with your Hulu profile going forward.

After linking, Disney+ pulls in:

  • Watch history from your Hulu profile
  • Watch list (everything you’ve saved to watch later on Hulu)
  • Personalized recommendations based on your Hulu viewing patterns
  • Hulu avatar icons inside the Disney+ interface

What it doesn’t do: replace Hulu. Both apps still live separately on your Firestick. Hulu still has its own Keep Watching section and still manages your history on that side. Think of this as a data bridge, not a merger — you want both apps installed and signed in.

Am I Eligible?

The feature is rolling out to subscribers on these plans:

  • Disney+ (standalone)
  • Hulu (with Disney+ access)
  • ESPN Bundle
  • Hulu Bundle + Disney+

Two important caveats from Disney’s rollout notes:

  1. Adult profiles only — child profiles are not included in this first wave
  2. Hulu Live TV and add-ons are coming later in 2026

If you have a bundle covering both services and you’re on an adult profile, you’re in the first wave — just maybe not day one. If the option hasn’t appeared yet, you’re in the queue.

What You Need Before Starting

Disney+ iconDisney+Hulu iconHulu
  • Disney+ app installed on your Firestick and updated to the latest version
  • Hulu app installed on your Firestick and updated
  • An active subscription that covers both services (any eligible plan above)
  • A MyDisney login — Disney’s unified sign-on that now works across both apps
  • Both accounts on the same email address where possible

How to Set It Up on Firestick

Link Hulu to Disney+ on Firestick

6 steps
1

Update Both Apps

Before anything else, make sure Disney+ and Hulu are on their latest versions. From the Fire TV home screen, go to FindSearch, type Disney+, and select the app listing. If an Update button appears, use it. Repeat for Hulu.

You can also check via SettingsApplicationsManage Installed Applications → select the app → look for an update option.

2

Open Disney+

Launch Disney+ from your Firestick home screen. Sign in with your MyDisney login if you’re not already in. Use the D-pad and Select button to navigate — the Disney+ Fire TV app is well-optimized for remote navigation.

3

Find the Profile-Linking Prompt

For eligible accounts, Disney+ surfaces the linking prompt automatically — typically right after launch or when you tap into your profile. Look for a banner or pop-up about connecting your Hulu profile or linking accounts.

If you don’t see a banner, navigate to your profile icon (top right) → Account or Settings and look for a Hulu connection option there.

4

Sign In with MyDisney

When prompted, sign in with your MyDisney login — the same email and password you use for Disney+. If the prompt asks for Hulu credentials specifically, enter those. The goal is confirming you own both accounts.

5

Confirm the Profile Connection

Disney+ shows you which Hulu profile is being linked before you confirm. Double-check it’s your adult profile — not a shared household profile that would muddy your recommendations with someone else’s viewing habits. Confirm when you’re sure.

6

Restart Fire TV and Check

After confirming, hold the Home button on your Fire TV remote and select Restart. When the device comes back up, open Disney+ and look for Hulu content appearing in your recommendations and watch list. The initial sync can take a few hours to fully populate.

What Syncs — and What Doesn’t

Once linked, here’s the practical breakdown of what crosses over:

What Syncs into Disney+What Stays Hulu-Only
Hulu watch historyHulu Live TV viewing
Hulu watch listAdd-on subscriptions content
Recommendations from Hulu viewingChild profile history
Hulu avatar iconsThird-party add-on content

The recommendation sync is the real win. If you’ve watched three seasons of a prestige drama on Hulu, Disney+ will start surfacing similar content — instead of assuming you only want Marvel and Pixar.

One thing worth doing before you link: make sure every person in your household is on their own separate adult profile. The sync happens at the profile level. If you share a single adult profile with a partner who has completely different taste, Disney+ will end up recommending content that satisfies neither of you. Separate profiles, then link.

Troubleshooting: When It’s Not Working

Profile linking loops back to sign-in

Almost always an email mismatch. Open a browser, log into your Disney+ account settings and your Hulu account settings, and confirm both list the same primary email. Fix the mismatch there, then try linking again on Firestick.

Watch history isn’t showing up after linking

Give it time — the initial sync can take several hours if you have years of viewing history to pull in. If nothing has appeared after 24 hours, try unlinking the profile and relinking it fresh.

Disney+ is crashing or freezing during setup

Clear the app cache before trying again: SettingsApplicationsManage Installed ApplicationsDisney+Clear Cache. Most Fire TV app instability traces back to a bloated cache. If the crashes persist, our Firestick troubleshooting guide covers the other usual suspects.

Recommendations still look like generic Disney+ defaults

The algorithm needs a calibration period after linking. Watch a few things on both apps over the following week. If recommendations still look unchanged after two weeks, unlink and relink the profile — it occasionally gets stuck mid-sync.

How the Unified Experience Compares

If you’re deciding whether to lean into the Disney/Hulu ecosystem or look elsewhere, here’s where it stacks up against the main alternatives for Firestick users.

Streaming Recommendation Engines on Firestick (May 2026)
ServiceCross-App HistoryRecommendation QualityFire TV App QualityBundle Value
🏆 Disney+ + Hulu (linked) Yes — as of May 2026 Strong (combined pool) Native Best for bundle subs
Hulu standalone Hulu only Good Native Limited without Disney+
Netflix icon Netflix Best Algorithm Netflix only Excellent Native No bundle
Max icon Max Max only Good Native No Hulu/Disney catalog
Prime Video icon Prime Video Amazon only Cluttered by rentals Built-in on Fire TV Good for Amazon users
Netflix iconNetflixMax iconMaxPrime Video iconPrime Video

Honest answer: Netflix still has the best individual recommendation engine — it’s been years ahead on personalization. But if you’re already paying for the Disney/Hulu bundle, you’re the only streaming subscriber who gets a unified recommendation pool from two large libraries. That’s a genuine advantage for discovery that Netflix can’t match with its single-service history.

Installing Both Apps (If You Need Them)

If either app isn’t on your Firestick yet, here’s the quick version.

Install Disney+ and Hulu on Firestick

4 steps
1

Find Disney+ in the Fire TV App Store

From your Fire TV home screen, go to FindSearch. Type Disney+ using the on-screen keyboard, select it from results, and hit Download or Get.

2

Sign Into Disney+

Open Disney+ and sign in with your MyDisney credentials. Choose your profile from the selector. If this is a fresh install, take a minute to set up separate profiles for each person in your household before you link Hulu.

3

Install Hulu the Same Way

From the home screen, search Hulu in the app store. Download and install it. Sign in with your Hulu account — use the same email as your Disney+ account where possible.

4

Verify Both Apps Are Updated

Go to SettingsApplicationsManage Installed Applications and check both apps are on their latest versions before attempting profile linking.

The Disney+/Hulu integration is a solid step forward — but getting the most out of your Firestick goes further than just these two apps. For a broader look at what’s worth installing:

Want More Than Disney+ and Hulu?

The integrated Disney/Hulu experience is great for what it covers. But if you’re looking for live TV channels that go beyond that — international sports, regional news, thousands of channels in one place — Unify IPTV covers ground that Disney+ and Hulu don’t touch.
