How to Install Live Sports Pro on Firestick (Free Live Sports Guide)
Live Sports Pro streams NBA, NFL, MLB, and more for free on your Firestick. Here's how to install it in under 5 minutes using Downloader code 458840.
I’ve been hunting down reliable free sports streams on my Firestick 4K Max for years — and Live Sports Pro is one of the few apps that actually delivers. NBA, NFL, MLB, live coverage, no subscription. I installed v9 using Downloader code 458840, had it running in about four minutes, and watched a full NBA playoff game that same night.
The catch? Like most third-party sports APKs, you’ll want a VPN running before you launch it. More on that below. But the install itself is straightforward — here’s exactly how I did it.
To install Live Sports Pro on Firestick: enable Apps from Unknown Sources for Downloader in Settings, open Downloader and enter code 458840, then install the APK. The app is completely free — no subscription required. Connect to a VPN like Surfshark before launching to avoid server errors and geo-blocks.
What I Tested For
Before walking you through the install, here’s what I was actually evaluating on my Firestick 4K Max running Fire OS 8:
- Install reliability — does the Downloader code actually work?
- Stream quality — how does live sports content hold up, especially during peak hours?
- VPN behavior — does it break the app, or does it fix the server errors I kept hitting?
- App stability — crashes, dead streams, buffering under pressure
- Alternatives — what’s worth having alongside it if streams go down mid-game?
I tested during live NBA and NFL coverage. Here’s what I found.
Before You Install: You Need a VPN
I’ll cut straight to it — Live Sports Pro pulls streams from third-party servers, and without a VPN, you’ll hit errors constantly. Certain servers are geo-blocked or throttled by ISPs the moment they detect heavy video traffic. I experienced this firsthand: three servers in a row returned errors on a stock connection. Connected Surfshark, switched to a Costa Rica server, and everything loaded clean.

How to Install Live Sports Pro on Firestick
The whole process runs through the Downloader app — Amazon’s official sideloading tool. If you’ve never sideloaded anything before, check our complete sideloading guide first. Otherwise, follow these steps.
How to Install Live Sports Pro on Firestick
5 stepsEnable Developer Options
From your Firestick home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About → Fire TV Stick. Click the Fire TV Stick option 7 times in a row. You’ll see a message that says “You are now a developer.” This unlocks the Developer Options menu.
Turn On Apps from Unknown Sources
Go back to My Fire TV → Developer Options. Find Apps from Unknown Sources — or depending on your Fire OS version, you’ll see a list of apps. Toggle Downloader to ON. This tells your Firestick to trust APK files installed through Downloader specifically.
Install the Downloader App
Head back to the home screen and use the search icon to find Downloader in the Amazon App Store. It’s free and made by AFTVnews — it’s the one with the orange icon. Download and install it.
Download Live Sports Pro APK
Open Downloader and tap into the URL field. Enter the code 458840 and press Go. Downloader will fetch the Live Sports Pro APK (v9). Once the download completes, tap Install when prompted.
Launch the App and Delete the APK
After installation, select Open to launch Live Sports Pro. Once you’ve confirmed it works, go back to Downloader and delete the APK file — it’s just taking up storage at this point. To find the app later, long-press the Home button → Apps → scroll to Live Sports Pro.
Live Sports Pro: Verdict
Live Sports Pro
- Completely free — no account, no subscription
- Covers NBA, NFL, MLB, and other live sports
- Quick install via Downloader code 458840
- Works reliably with a VPN connected
I’ve been running Live Sports Pro alongside ESPN on my Firestick for a few weeks. For games that aren’t behind a paywall on official apps, it holds up — stream quality is solid on a stable connection, and the interface is simple enough to navigate with a D-pad. The real limitation shows up when servers go down mid-game, which happens. That’s not a Live Sports Pro problem specifically — it’s the nature of third-party APKs.
✓ Pros
- Completely free — no subscription, no account required
- Covers major US sports leagues including NBA, NFL, and MLB
- Dead-simple install via Downloader code 458840
- Stable streams when paired with a VPN on a fast connection
- Works on any Fire TV device without special workarounds
✕ Cons
- Server errors are common without a VPN — don't even try it bare
- Stream reliability varies; dead links mid-game happen occasionally
- No updates documented for 2026 — app feels maintained but slowly
- Third-party APK carries the usual legal grey area that official apps don't
Alternatives Worth Having
Live Sports Pro does the job for casual viewing, but having a backup is smart. Here’s what else I’ve tested on Firestick for free live sports.
| App | Sports Coverage | Install Method | VPN Required | Reliability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🏆 Live Sports Pro | NBA, NFL, MLB + more | Downloader code 458840 | Strongly recommended | Good with VPN |
| ESPN Most Reliable | NFL, NBA, MLB, college | Amazon App Store | No | Excellent |
| NBC Sports | Live events, US-focused | Downloader code 691174 | Recommended | Good |
| SportsFire | US live sports | Sideload | Yes (US server) | Moderate |
| 1Pix Media | Football, cricket, PPV | tinyurl.com/mswst9kn | Recommended | Moderate |
ESPN is the only official app on that list — and it’s the one I keep installed alongside Live Sports Pro for exactly that reason. The ESPN app is free to download and covers a massive range of live sports without any sideloading. ESPN+ ($10.99/mo) unlocks premium content, but you don’t need a subscription to use the basic app.

Troubleshooting Live Sports Pro
Streams not loading / server errors? This is almost always a VPN issue. Connect to Surfshark or another VPN before launching the app. A Costa Rica or US server usually resolves these errors.
Buffering on fast connections? Clear the app cache: go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Live Sports Pro → Clear Cache. Then reconnect your VPN and relaunch.
App not showing in your app list? Long-press the Home button on your remote → Apps → scroll right to find Live Sports Pro. If it’s not there, you may need to reinstall — repeat the Downloader process with code 458840.
Running out of storage? Make sure you deleted the APK file from Downloader after installing. If storage is still tight, our Firestick storage guide has 10 ways to free up space fast.
Want More Live TV Without the Buffering?
Live Sports Pro is great for free access, but if you want consistent, reliable live sports without hunting for working streams — Unify IPTV is worth a look. It covers live channels including sports with a proper EPG, and the streams are far more stable than what you get from free APKs.
