NetMirror App on Android/Google TV/Fire TV (Install & Review)
NetMirror is a free, no-subscription streaming app for Firestick and Android TV. Here's how to install it and whether it's worth your time.
I’ve been sideloading apps on Fire TV devices long enough to know that most “free streaming” apps are either dead on arrival, drowning in ads, or quietly mining your data while you watch. NetMirror showed up in my feed a few months back with the bold claim that it streams premium OTT content — for free, no account, no subscription. On my Firestick 4K Max running Fire OS 8, I figured that was worth an afternoon.
It took me about ten minutes to get it running. Here’s what I found.
NetMirror is a free, no-registration streaming app that sideloads onto Firestick, Android TV, and Google TV via the Downloader app. The current version is v2.3, verified clean from malware scans. It has a built-in player with closed captions and playback speed controls — and it costs nothing. Use a VPN like Surfshark before installing any sideloaded APK.
What I Tested For
Before I get into the review, here’s what I actually cared about:
- Installation friction — How painful is the sideload process on a Firestick remote?
- Content library — Is there anything worth watching, or is it a graveyard of obscure titles?
- Player quality — Does it buffer? Does it crash? Can you control playback speed and captions?
- Safety — Is the APK clean? What permissions does it ask for?
- Long-term reliability — Is this app actively maintained or is v2.3 the last gasp?
I also ran a VPN the entire time. If you’re sideloading anything that isn’t from the Amazon Appstore, that’s just standard practice at this point.
What Is NetMirror?
NetMirror is a sideload-only streaming app — you won’t find it in the Amazon Appstore or Google Play. It’s built for Android TV interfaces, which means it works on Firestick, Fire TV, Google TV devices, and Android TV boxes. You can also access it via browser on PC without installing anything.
The pitch is straightforward: premium OTT content, zero subscription fees, zero account required. No email address, no credit card, no profile setup. You open it and start watching.
The built-in video player handles closed captioning and playback speed adjustments (press Select on your remote during playback, then tap the timer icon to change speed). There are multiple quality options per stream. The interface is described as clean — and from what I saw, it keeps you out of menus rather than burying you in them.
NetMirror v2.3
- Completely free — no subscription, no registration
- Built-in player with captions and speed controls
- Works on Firestick, Android TV, Google TV, and PC
- v2.3 verified clean via malware scan
- Sideload-only — requires Developer Options enabled
✓ Pros
- Zero cost — no subscription, no account, no registration required
- Built-in video player with closed captioning and adjustable playback speed
- v2.3 verified safe via malware scans as of 2026 guides
- Works across Firestick, Fire TV, Android TV, Google TV, and PC browser
- Clean interface designed for D-pad navigation
✕ Cons
- Not in the Amazon Appstore — sideloading required every time
- APK download from Downloader can need multiple attempts before it sticks
- Requires Developer Options and Unknown Sources enabled — extra setup steps
- Third-party APK risk exists; malware scans help but aren't a guarantee
- No official support channel if something breaks
How to Install NetMirror on Firestick
You’ll need the Downloader app for this. If you’ve never sideloaded anything before, check out our complete sideloading guide first — it covers all the concepts. The steps below assume you’re starting from scratch.
How to Install NetMirror on Firestick
6 stepsEnable Developer Options
From the Firestick home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About. Highlight your device name and click it 7 times in a row. You’ll see a message confirming Developer Options are now enabled.
Turn On ADB Debugging and Unknown Sources
Go back one level to My Fire TV → Developer Options. Toggle ADB Debugging to ON. Then toggle Apps from Unknown Sources to ON — specifically enable it for Downloader.
Install the Downloader App
Return to the home screen and search the Amazon Appstore for Downloader by AFTVnews. It’s free. Install it. If you already have it, skip this step.
Download the NetMirror APK
Open Downloader and enter this URL in the address bar: netmirror.app1/en
On the page that loads, select the Android TV option, then tap TV APK to start the download. The download button may need a couple of clicks before it registers — this is a known quirk of the site. Be patient and tap again if it doesn’t respond immediately.
Install and Launch
Once the APK downloads, Downloader will prompt you to install it. Select Install. When the install completes, tap Done (not Open — we’ll launch it another way). Go to your Firestick’s Apps section from the home screen to find NetMirror and open it from there.
Clean Up Install Files
Head back into Downloader and clear the downloaded APK from its file browser. This frees up storage. While you’re at it, clear Downloader’s cache: Settings → Applications → Downloader → Clear Cache. Every bit helps on a Firestick.
Using NetMirror: Player Controls
Once you’re in, the interface works cleanly with a D-pad. To adjust playback:
- Press Select on your Firestick remote while a video is playing to bring up the player overlay
- Look for the timer icon to adjust playback speed
- Captions toggle from the same overlay
Multiple quality options are available per stream, so if something buffers, step the quality down one notch before assuming the content is broken.
NetMirror vs. The Alternatives
Quick comparison before we wrap up:
| App | Cost | Ads | Install Method | Account Required | Built-in Player |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🏆 NetMirror v2.3 | Free | None | Sideload | No | Yes (CC + Speed) |
| Tubi | Free | Ad-supported | Appstore | No | Basic |
| Netflix | Subscription | Lower tiers only | Appstore | Yes | Advanced |
| Cinema HD Popular Alternative | Free | None | Sideload | No | Basic |
The honest reality: NetMirror sits in the same category as Cinema HD alternatives and similar sideload-only apps. The zero-cost, zero-registration angle is genuinely appealing. The trade-off is that you’re outside the safety net of the Appstore, which means you should always verify the APK version and run a VPN.
Is NetMirror Safe?
The short version: v2.3 passed malware scans as of current 2026 guides — no viruses detected. That said, “safe APK” and “safe app” aren’t exactly the same thing. The app requires storage and network permissions on install, which is standard for any streaming app, but worth knowing.
Mitigate the risk with three things:
- Download only from the URL in this guide (
netmirror.app1/en) — not random mirrors - Run Surfshark or another VPN before and during use
- Check for updated malware scans if you’re installing a version newer than v2.3
If you want to dig deeper into what you’re enabling on your device when you sideload, our Firestick security and privacy guide covers it thoroughly.
Should You Install NetMirror?
If you’re comfortable with sideloading and you want free OTT content without handing over an email address, NetMirror delivers what it promises. The player is more capable than most free alternatives — captions and speed controls aren’t standard features at this price point (free). The D-pad navigation works as expected on a Firestick remote.
The catch: it’s a third-party APK with no official Appstore presence and no formal support. If it goes dark or a version breaks, you’re on your own. Pair it with a VPN, verify the APK version before installing, and you’ve managed the main risks.
