How to Install Viva TV APK on ONN Streaming Device & Android TV (V1.8.1)
Step-by-step guide to sideloading Viva TV V1.8.1 APK on your ONN Streaming Device or any Android TV. Includes Downloader codes, TPlayer setup, and fixes for common install issues.
My ONN Streaming Box sits in the bedroom — the one TV in the house that doesn’t have a subscription attached to it. No Netflix, no Max, no nothing. So when I want to catch a movie in there without dragging my phone over, I rely on a short list of sideloaded apps. Viva TV V1.8.1 made that list. It’s free, it works with the ONN’s Google TV interface, and the install takes about ten minutes if you know what you’re doing.
The catch: Google TV doesn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat for sideloaded apps. You’ve got to enable Developer Options, grab the right APK build (ARMV7A — more on that in a second), and install a separate video player before any of it actually plays. I’ll walk you through every step.
To install Viva TV on an ONN Streaming Device: enable Install Unknown Apps in Developer Options, install the Downloader app from Google Play, then enter code 5520952 to download the Viva TV V1.8.1 APK. You’ll also need TPlayer (Downloader code 250931 via TROYPOINT Toolbox) as your video player. The whole process takes under 15 minutes.
What I Tested
I ran this install on an ONN 4K Streaming Box running Google TV. I went through the full process cold — enabling Developer Options, installing Downloader from the Play Store, using the APK code, and setting up TPlayer — then launched Viva TV and browsed through the library to confirm it was pulling content. I also tested the S2X sideload method as a fallback for anyone who runs into issues with Downloader.
A couple of things to flag before we dive in: Viva TV is a third-party APK, not a Google Play app. It streams content from third-party sources, so a VPN is worth running alongside it. I’ll cover that mid-guide.
Before You Start: What You’ll Need
- ONN Streaming Device (any model running Google TV or Android TV)
- A stable Wi-Fi connection
- About 15 minutes
- The Downloader app (free on Google Play)
- TPlayer (required video player — install via Downloader)
Step 1: Enable Developer Options and Unknown App Installs
Google TV locks down sideloading by default. Two settings need to change before anything else.
Enable Sideloading on ONN Google TV
6 stepsOpen Google TV Settings
From your ONN home screen, navigate to the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner. Select Settings.
Find Developer Options
Go to System → About → scroll down to Build and press OK on your remote 7 times in a row. You’ll see a toast message: “You are now a developer.”
Enable Unknown Sources
Back in Settings, go to Apps → Security & Restrictions → Unknown Sources. Toggle the setting to ON. When prompted, select OK to confirm.
Install Downloader from Google Play
Press the home button and open the Google Play Store. Search for Downloader by AFTVNews. Install it — it’s free and takes about 30 seconds.
Open Downloader and Enter the Viva TV Code
Launch Downloader. In the URL/code field, type 5520952 and hit Go. Downloader will fetch the Viva TV V1.8.1 APK automatically.
Install the APK
Once the download completes, select Install on the prompt that appears. After install finishes, tap Done (not Open — you need TPlayer first). Then select Delete to remove the APK file and free up storage.
Step 2: Install TPlayer (Required Video Player)
Viva TV doesn’t include its own video player — it hands off streams to an external one. TPlayer is the recommended option and it’s free.
Install TPlayer via TROYPOINT Toolbox
3 stepsOpen Downloader and Enter the TROYPOINT Code
In the Downloader URL field, enter 250931 and press Go. This loads the TROYPOINT Toolbox — a curated collection of streaming apps.
Find and Download TPlayer
Inside the Toolbox, scroll until you find TPlayer. Select Download and wait for it to fetch the APK.
Install TPlayer
When the download finishes, select Install → Done. Delete the APK when prompted. TPlayer is now installed and ready for Viva TV to call on it.
Step 3: Launch and Configure Viva TV
With TPlayer installed, Viva TV is ready to run.
First Launch Setup
4 stepsFind Viva TV on Your ONN
If Viva TV doesn’t show up on your home screen automatically, go to Apps in the Google TV interface and look for it in your installed apps list. If it still doesn’t appear, install the Sideload Folder app from Google Play — it surfaces sideloaded apps on the home screen.
Grant Permissions
On first launch, Viva TV will ask for a few permissions. Grant them — storage access is required for the app to function properly. Accept the disclaimer when it appears.
Select Subtitle Language
You’ll be prompted to choose a default subtitle language. Pick your preference or skip this step — you can change it later in Settings.
Optional: Connect Trakt.tv
If you track what you’ve watched with Trakt, Viva TV supports it. Select the Trakt option and visit trakt.tv/activate on your phone or PC, then enter the on-screen code to link your account.

→Fallback: Sideload Viva TV Using S2X
If Downloader gives you trouble — or the APK fails to install — S2X is a reliable alternative for ONN devices.
- Install S2X from the Google Play Store on your ONN.
- On your phone or PC browser, open the S2X upload page (shown in the app).
- Upload the Viva TV V1.8.1 APK from your phone’s downloads folder — the app will scan a QR code to transfer it.
- Install the APK through S2X the same way you would through Downloader.
This method is slower but handles compatibility issues that can come up with the Downloader URL method on some ONN hardware.
Viva TV: Pros and Cons
✓ Pros
- Completely free — no subscription, no sign-up required
- Works on ONN Streaming Device and Android TV without modification
- Large library of movies and TV shows accessible on demand
- Trakt.tv integration for tracking watch history
- Straightforward install via Downloader code (no manual URL needed)
✕ Cons
- Requires TPlayer as a separate install — the app won't play anything without it
- ARMV7A build required for Google TV/ONN — wrong build = silent failure
- No home screen icon by default — need Sideload Folder app to surface it
- Third-party content sources mean stream quality varies; a VPN is strongly recommended
- Not on Google Play Store — sideloading required every time you update
Viva TV vs Alternatives
Quick comparison before you commit to Viva TV for your ONN setup:
| App | Cost | Content | Install Method | ONN Compatible |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🏆 Viva TV V1.8.1 | Free | Movies & TV (streams) | Sideload (Downloader code) | Yes (ARMV7A) |
| Kodi Most Flexible | Free / Open-source | Media center (customizable) | Sideload | Yes |
| Stremio | Free | Movies & TV (torrents + streams) | Google Play | Yes |
| Tubi No Sideloading | Free (ad-supported) | Movies & TV (legal) | Google Play | Yes |
Kodi is the most flexible option if you want to customize your setup deeply — addons, builds, the works. If you’ve never used Kodi before, our Kodi installation guide walks through the full setup (the sideload process is nearly identical on ONN). Stremio is worth a look if you want a cleaner interface and don’t mind pairing it with Real-Debrid for premium links. Tubi is the zero-sideloading option — it’s legal, ad-supported, and installs directly from Google Play.
