Cinema HD finally bit the dust. If you’ve been holding onto it out of habit, you’ve probably noticed the links are either dead or the app crashes before you even get to browse. I went through the same thing — and after trying every replacement I could find on my Firestick 4K Max, Cinema HQ landed at the top of the list.

Version 6.1 is the current release, it’s entirely free, and it covers movies, TV shows, and live TV in a single app. The install takes about two to five minutes. Here’s the exact process I used.

Quick Answer

To install Cinema HQ v6.1 on Firestick: enable Apps from Unknown Sources in Developer Options, open the Downloader app, enter code 730116 or URL cinemahq.app, download the Fire TV version, and install. The whole process takes under five minutes. Use a VPN — Surfshark is what I run — to keep your ISP out of your streaming activity.

What I Tested For

I installed Cinema HQ v6.1 fresh on my Firestick 4K Max running Fire OS 8. I checked both the Firestickhacks code (730116) and the TroyPoint URL (cinemahq.app) to confirm they both pull the right APK. I browsed the Movies, Shows, and Live TV sections, tested a handful of links across each category, and noted where ads pop up and where dead links are most common. I also confirmed what happens with and without Real-Debrid connected.

The short version: it works, the live TV section is the standout feature Cinema HD never had, and the free links are hit-or-miss without Real-Debrid — exactly what you’d expect from a free scraper app in 2026.

Step 1: Get the Downloader App First

Downloader iconDownloaderFree

Downloader is the gateway for everything we sideload on Firestick. If you don’t already have it, search for it in the Amazon App Store — it’s free and takes about 30 seconds to install. It’s officially available, so no hoops to jump through for this part.

How to Install Cinema HQ on Firestick (Full Steps)

Install Cinema HQ v6.1 on Firestick

5 steps
1

Enable Unknown Sources

From your Firestick home screen, go to SettingsMy Fire TVDeveloper Options. Toggle Apps from Unknown Sources to ON — then specifically allow it for Downloader when prompted.

If you don’t see Developer Options, click your device name in the My Fire TV menu seven times in a row. That unlocks the hidden developer menu.

2

Open Downloader and Enter the Code

Launch the Downloader app. In the URL/code field, type either:

  • Code: 730116 (Firestickhacks)
  • URL: cinemahq.app (TroyPoint)

Both pull the same APK. Hit Go.

3

Select the Fire TV Version and Download

The Cinema HQ download page will load inside Downloader. Select the Fire TV / Android TV version of the APK — not the phone version. Tap Download and wait for it to finish. The file is small, so this usually takes under a minute on a decent connection.

4

Install and Delete the APK

Once the download completes, tap Install. Wait for the installation to finish, then tap Done — not Open. Go back into Downloader and delete the APK file to recover the storage space. You won’t need it again unless you reinstall.

5

Launch and Grant Permissions

Find Cinema HQ in your apps list — you may need to scroll to the end of the row or check SettingsApplicationsManage Installed Applications. Launch it, grant any permissions it asks for (select “While Using the App” for location if prompted), and you’re in. Pick a category — Movies, Shows, or Live TV — and tap Watch Now on anything that looks interesting.

Installing on Android TV (Same Process, Slightly Different Menu)

The install steps are nearly identical on Android TV boxes. The difference is where you find the unknown sources toggle:

  • On most Android TV devices: SettingsDevice PreferencesSecurity & RestrictionsUnknown Sources
  • Enable it for Downloader specifically, then follow the same Downloader steps above

The same Downloader codes and URLs work. Select the Android TV APK version on the download page rather than the Fire TV build.

Our Top Pick for Free Streaming

Cinema HQ v6.1

8.4 /10
Best For: Cord-cutters who want movies, TV, and live TV in one free app Price: Free
Why We Picked It:
  • Movies, TV shows, and live TV all in one app
  • Completely free — no subscription required
  • Simple installation via Downloader code 730116
  • Works on Firestick and Android TV
  • Real-Debrid integration available for premium links

Cinema HQ picked up where Cinema HD left off — and then went a bit further. The live TV section is the headline feature. It’s not just a movie scraper with a couple of bonus channels; there’s a real Live TV category with a working channel list. Whether those channels are available in your region will vary, but I found more working streams here than I expected for a free app.

The on-demand side behaves exactly like Cinema HD did in its prime. Search for a title, get a list of scraped links ranked by quality, pick one. Some work, some don’t. Without Real-Debrid, I’d estimate maybe 50-60% of the links I tested played back without issues on the first try. The 1080p links are more reliable than the 4K ones.

The ads are present but not aggressive. You’ll see a pre-roll or an interstitial when you tap a link — not stacked ads every few minutes. If you’ve used Cinema HD before, the experience is similar. Manageable, not infuriating.

Pros

  • Live TV section is a genuine differentiator — not just VOD
  • Completely free with no account or subscription needed
  • Fast to install via Downloader — under five minutes start to finish
  • Real-Debrid integration dramatically improves link reliability
  • Works across Firestick and Android TV with the same APK process

Cons

  • Free links are hit-or-miss — roughly half work cleanly without Real-Debrid
  • No official app store version — always requires sideloading
  • Ads between link selections are unavoidable on the free tier
  • No dedicated app icon on Fire TV home screen without a launcher workaround

Does It Work Better With Real-Debrid?

Yes — considerably. Cinema HQ, like most scraper apps, pulls links from sources all over the web. A lot of those free links are either dead, low quality, or throttled. Real-Debrid adds a premium link resolver that caches high-quality versions of the same content on fast servers. The difference on-demand is noticeable: faster load times, fewer dead links, and more consistent 1080p playback.

If you’re planning to use Cinema HQ as your main app rather than an occasional thing, Real-Debrid is worth it. It’s cheap and works with multiple apps simultaneously.

Cinema HQ vs. The Alternatives

🏆 Cinema HQ v6.1 Active Yes Yes Downloader 730116 Good
Cinema HD icon Cinema HD Mostly Dead Unreliable No Yes Downloader (blocked) Poor
TeaTV Active No Yes Sideload Good

Cinema HD is worth mentioning because a lot of guides still recommend it — and a lot of readers come to Cinema HQ specifically because Cinema HD stopped working on their device. Amazon’s 2026 crackdown on sideloaded piracy apps hit Cinema HD hard. If you still have it installed, don’t count on it staying functional.

Cinema HQ is the cleaner replacement. The live TV section alone makes it a different category of app — Cinema HD never had that.

Fixing Common Issues

App won’t install: Go back to Developer Options and make sure both ADB Debugging and Apps from Unknown Sources are enabled. On newer Fire TV hardware, both need to be on.

Downloader code doesn’t work: Try the URL version instead — type cinemahq.app directly in the address field. If that also fails, clear Downloader’s cache under SettingsApplicationsDownloaderClear Cache, then try again.

App crashes on launch: Delete the APK and reinstall fresh. This usually means the download was interrupted or corrupted partway through.

All links are dead: This is the most common complaint with free scraper apps. The fix is Real-Debrid. Without it, some content simply has no working free sources at any given time.

Buffering constantly: Two likely causes — either your connection is being throttled by your ISP, or the link quality is poor. Try a different link first. If every link buffers, that’s usually ISP throttling — the fix is a VPN. See our Firestick Buffering Fixes guide for the full breakdown.

Should You Pair It With a VPN?

Cinema HQ works without one — but I wouldn’t run it that way long-term. Your ISP can see that you’re using a scraper app and throttle your connection during peak hours. That’s usually the real cause behind buffering that seems random.

Beyond speed, a VPN adds a layer of privacy between you and anything the app streams. If you sideload apps on your Firestick, that layer matters.

I’ve been running Surfshark on my setup for months. It has a native Fire TV app — available directly from the Amazon App Store, no sideloading needed — and it’s the most affordable solid VPN I’ve tested across the Fire TV lineup. Connect before you open Cinema HQ and leave it on.

Quick Recap

  • Downloader code: 730116 (or URL: cinemahq.app)
  • Version: v6.1 (current as of April 2026)
  • Works on: Firestick 4K, 4K Max, Lite, Fire TV Cube, Android TV
  • Live TV: Yes — built-in section, no extra setup
  • Real-Debrid: Recommended for reliable 1080p links
  • VPN: Recommended — Surfshark has a native Fire TV app
  • Cost: Free

Cinema HQ is the app I’d tell anyone to install first after sideloading is set up on a new Firestick. It’s not perfect — no free scraper app is — but it covers more ground than anything else in its category right now.
